Currently most facilities have back up generation in the form of Diesel engines. These engines are in standby mode in case of a power outage.
These Diesels are Capital Expenditures that cost money to maintain annually but do nothing to improve the facilities performance or efficiency.
Co-generation will run on a daily basis to improve power quality and reliability while increasing facility efficiency. This increase in efficiency will reduce overall utility costs.
